Mr. Fusion (Light):
Mr. Fusion (Heavy):

The Mr. Fusion unit was fitted to the DeLorean Time Machine in Back to the Future II. Doc. Brown went into the future and had this unit added so that he could easily generate the 1.21 GigaWatts of electricity needed for the flux capacitor.
The original Mr. Fusion was made from a Krups coffee grinder which is no longer produced. The grinder was virtually unchanged except for the loss of the Krups logo and the addition of the Mr. Fusion logo and text.
When the Universal Theme Parks needed prop cars to sit outside the ride, they couldn't find any of the rare Krups grinders and so made a Mr. Fusion out of what looks like a block of shaped wood with a white metal skin wrapped around it. The removable canister, part of the grinder, which was easily seen in the movie, was painted on in black as was the removable plastic top.
This replica is made from an original Krups grinder. The grinder was stripped down until the two plastic sides were left. These have a round window in each one and the Mr. Fusion logo goes on the inside. The sides were taken to an auto respraying shop. They acid etched the sides, then sprayed them white with a special paint designed to adhere perfectly to plastics. The window was masked off so that it would still be clear and ready for the logo.
Stills of the movie were used these to recreate the logo and text using Corel Draw. The text was sent to a graphic company to make custom screen transfers. The round logo was printed on gloss printing paper using a colour laser printer.
The Mr. Fusion text therefore does not have an unsightly plastic surround, the text looks like it was printed on the side.
If you are lucky enough to have a Krups grinder that you want to convert yourself, then just purchase a logo pack of three custom text transfers (one extra in case you screw up on one), plus 3 prints of the logo.
Youn can choose to have a lightweight Mr. Fusion, which has all the grinder parts removed and the removable parts fixed into place or a heavy Mr. Fusion which still contains the grinder parts. The lightweight version is ideal for fitting to a DeLorean. The heavy version does not have a mains lead and isn't suitable for grinding coffee!

Mr. Fusion (Heavy) is $175. Mr. Fusion (Light) is $170.
